My Wild Camping & Hiking Transformation Journey
Introduction: A Life Transformed by the Outdoors
I never thought that stepping into the woods with a backpack and a firestarter would change my life—but it did. Four hundred days ago, I weighed 24 stone. I was stuck, both mentally and physically. Then I discovered wild camping and hiking, and everything changed.
Over the past year, I’ve lost over eight stone (more than 100 pounds), rediscovered my love for the outdoors, and built a new life around wild adventures, mental clarity, and real connection with nature. This blog is where I share that journey—raw, honest, and full of gear, grit, and growth.
My Personal Transformation
From 24 Stone to Fit and Free
When I first stepped onto the trails of the North Downs Way, I was out of breath within five minutes. My joints hurt. My mind was cloudy. But every step forward was a step away from who I used to be.
Through consistent hiking, wild camps in all weather, and pushing myself outdoors, I’ve shed more than eight stone. I didn’t use a fancy gym or fad diet—just fresh air, determination, and a lot of boiled water on windy hillsides.
Mental Health Benefits of Nature
Wild camping didn’t just change my body. It saved my mind. Sitting alone by a fire, listening to the breeze sweep through the trees, something inside me finally quieted. Anxiety faded. Depression lifted.
Out here, I’m not weighed down by the world. The woods don’t judge. They listen.
